Erika Zárate is a co-founder of Resilience Earth, which combines more than 25 years of experience in community resilience, governance and human rights. Specialized in facilitating systemic change and regenerative development, she works from a decolonial and intersectional approach to accompany organizations, rural municipalities and indigenous communities in transformation processes. In 2023 he was recognized and honored by the Generalitat de Catalunya for his work in the defense of human rights.
She is a double degree in Environmental Sciences and International Cooperation (University of Toronto, 2003), a master's degree in Indigenous Education (Queen's University, 2008) and a master's degree in Adult Education and Organizational Capacity Development (University of Guelph, 2014). Descendant of the indigenous nation Quechua, Erika has dedicated her career to working with indigenous communities and women's rights movements, collaborating with local and international organizations in more than 15 countries. She has been vice president of International Peace Brigades, an international human rights organization operating in conflict zones.
She is an associate professor at the Department of Geography at the University of Girona, where she teaches territorial resilience and solidarity tourism, and academic mentor and teacher at the Urban resilience for sustainability transitions master of the UIC, International University of Catalonia.
His professional career is notable for his extensive experience in participatory research, transformative education, strategic planning and systemic analysis based on lever points and theories of change. His work, marked by commitment to social and environmental justice, inspires collective processes of sustainable transformation and governance.
Erika brings a transformative and regenerative look that connects ancestral knowledge with innovative practices, contributing to the creation of more resilient and equitable societies.
